ABOUT THE AUTHOR
J.R. Roberts is otherwise known as Robert J. Randisi, an American author who writes in the detective and Western genres. He has authored more than 500 published books and has edited more than 30 anthologies of short stories. Booklist magazine said he "may be the last of the pulp writers." He co-founded and edited Mystery Scene magazine and co-founded the American Crime Writers League. He founded The Private Eye Writers of America in 1981, where he created the Shamus Award. To date he has written almost 400 books in The Gunsmith series alone.

Like my Creative writing teacher used to tell me you need to start off your story with a scene that hooks you in immediately. In this Gunsmith novel Clint Adams gets shot in the back in the first sentence on page one.Who shot him in the back and why are the questions that suck you in immediately to this fast moving story.
The first half of the novel deals with his recovery and care and a young widow who takes care of him. Meanwhile the shooter is trying to finish the job.
Once healed the second half becomes a revenge story as a friend of the Gunsmith is also killed by the same man who shot the Gunsmith. Now he is on the trial to find the culprit.
This is another fast paced adventure with a good helping of sex and violence thrown in by author Robert J Randisi or JR Roberts his alias.
ProSe Press does another bang up job with their Trade Paperback version. Good editing and a sharp cover all in the oversized format with easy to read print. All for the $9 price.
I really want to see ProSe's Hard Copy version to succeed. Piccadilly Press does a good job bringing out the kindle version on a regular monthly basis, but the ProSe Press version comes out in clumps. So far the have released 10 novels since Spring 2016. realy enjoyed this story
I just can't get enough of the Gunsmith. J R Roberts is becoming my second best western novelist, right behind Louis L'Amour.
I remember reading the Longarm western series and was looking for something similar. This series is okay. I doubt I'll read very many of these though.
Great book. Lots of action
Loved this book.
When Clint is shot from behind (by a cowardly bounty hunter that just wants to make a name for himself), a kindly seamstress finds and nurses him back to health. When the same coward shoots & kills her, though, Clint makes it his mission to track him, find him, and give him some extra minerals. He outfoxes and outmanuvers the bounty hunters (and some hired guns) to deliver some final justice to the killer.
This was a great story. I liked the strategy Clint used to outfox the bounty hunter and the hired guns. This is one of my new favs.
